To help us get to New York to sing in Total Vocal 2019 we are busy raising money. So far we have been singing in our local community to raise our profile, and have had a fundraising stall at our local Christmas Lights Fair.
Last week we were busy at the Christmas Lights Switching On in Raunds, Northamptonshire. We had a slot to sing along with the Ukulele Orchestra that our Musical Director also runs, which was great fun! And we also had a stall which involved a Pick a Cone game where we had various prizes hidden under paper cones – ranging from wine to haribo sweets, and bubble bath to biscuits. We also had a number of handmade crafts made by one of our members. There really was something for everyone.
After a bit of a nightmare with getting the gazebo up, and many people coming to our aid, our MD took this photo. This was while it was still light, and before it got busy! I made the crafts and cards on the left (but opted out of the photo!), and made the lanterns filled with sweets with our MD. We had great fun, and only had a few hot glue gun related injuries!
Once it got late we switched on our fairy lights. We had lots of help from choir members and family, who were kind enough to mind the stall while we went off to perform. All in all it was another great event put on by our local council.
It was quite successful for us too. We raised over £140 from donations, our cone game, and selling donated gifts. Around another £30 was made by selling crafts.
